Recent WRWA Technical Conference Highlights New Technologies

Two Donohue wastewater professionals recently shared technical presentations as part of the Wisconsin Rural Water Association’s 33rd Annual Technical Conference in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Brief summaries of the presentations follow.

Disc Thickening – An Innovative New Thickening Technology | Eric Lynne, PE

Using the City of Medford, Wisconsin as an example, Donohue’s Eric Lynne, along with Ben Brooks and Alex Zenner from the City of Medford WWTP, presented on all aspects of sludge thickening. In addition to a discussion on how a treatment plant benefits from thickening sludge, this presentation included descriptions of the various methods used to thicken sludge, the criteria to evaluate when considering thickening, and new technology and special features.

State of the Art Water Treatment Facility for Groundwater with High TOC | Allen Williams

The City of Wausau, Wisconsin decided to construct a new drinking water treatment facility to address substantial concerns with their existing facility. After completing pilot testing, facility planning, and an engineering report, the City and Donohue decided on a new facility that will include a unique combination of treatment technologies to address water quality concerns. This presentation discussed the process design, layout, and method of achieving each treatment goal and design performance of each unit process.
